Parker H. Wright, Dean

Maj. Gen. Parker H. Wright, USAF (Ret.), is the inaugural dean of the School of Leadership and Policy at The University of Alabama. He is responsible for overseeing all planning, budgeting, and partnership development required to launch the School in Fall 2027.

Dean Wright has more than 30 years of experience in leadership, public policy, national security, intelligence, and higher education. During his Air Force career, he commanded at multiple echelons, including the Curtis E. LeMay Center for Doctrine Development and Education and the National Air and Space Intelligence Center. He also served in key leadership positions at the Pentagon, U.S. European Command, and U.S. Northern Command/NORAD.  Prior to his current position, Dean Wright was the Deputy Commander of Air University, where he led leadership and education programs serving more than 170,000 students annually.

Dean Wright holds a Master in Public Policy from Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government and master’s degrees from Air University’s School of Advanced Air and Space Studies and the Air Command and Staff College.  He earned a Bachelor of Science in political science as a distinguished graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy. He was a National Defense Fellow at the Center for a New American Security.

An Alabama native, Dean Wright is excited to return home to help establish the School and is committed to developing the state’s next generation of leaders and policymakers.
